Call for Co-Editor Nominations for Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, & the Arts (PACA): Due March 28, 2025

 Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, the official journal of APA Division 10 (Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts), is seeking nominations for a new co-Editor. The term of the editorship is 6 years from August, 2025 to August, 2031. During 2025-2029, the new Editor will work with the current co-Editor, Amy Belfi, and Associate Editors Selcuk Acar, Dirk Bernhardt-Walther, Evangelia Chrysikou, Katherine Cotter, Hansika Kapoor, Hod Orkibi, and Eva Specker.

Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts is devoted to promoting scholarship on the psychology of the production and appreciation of the arts and all aspects of creative endeavors. To that end, we publish manuscripts presenting original empirical research and papers that synthesize and evaluate extant research that relate to the psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts. The journal also has a mechanism for registered reports and encourages open science practices. The co-Editors are expected to work with a wide-range of topics in the psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts as well as different methodologies and data analytic approaches.

The journal has experienced significant growth and international visibility since its establishment in 2007 and carries a Five-year ISI Impact Factor of 4.9, and is ranked #25 of 99 journals in Psychology-Experimental.  We publish 6 issues per year covering 1100 pages.  The submission rate is high and growing strongly, with more than 420 submissions per year and a 73.5% rejection rate in 2023.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in a field relevant to the focus of the journal.
  • Extensive experience as a reviewer and/or editor for peer-reviewed journals. Experience serving as reviewer or editorial board member for PACA is desired.
  • Substantial scholarly contributions to the psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts.
  • A strong commitment to PACA’s mission.
  • Balanced expertise and experience with the current editorial team, given the range of topics and methods published in the journal.
  • The ability to work with and communicate in a timely manner with the editorial, production, and marketing teams as well as authors of manuscripts under consideration. Co-editors communicate at least weekly and engage with journal activities multiple times per week.

Nominations (including self-nominations) should include the following items:

  1. The candidate’s CV
  2. A cover letter describing the candidate’s vision for the journal and detailing area(s) and range of expertise and reviewing and editorial experience (maximum: 3 single-spaced pages)
  3. Three letters of recommendation
